 The 2024 "Low Carbon Net Zero & Smart Transformation Forum" (Taichung edition) successfully concluded recently. The event invited scholars, experts, research institutions, and executives from internationally renowned industrial companies. The forum focused on industry trends and provided practical insights and strategies to guide companies toward AI-driven smart manufacturing and ESG net-zero carbon reduction. It was truly an inspiring event for the industry. 

 In his opening remarks, Mr. Hsieh Chi-Chang emphasized the global attention on climate change and sustainable development. Low carbon and net-zero emissions have become central industrial issues. Meanwhile, the wave of digital transformation challenges businesses to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain competitiveness in ever-changing markets. The forum centered on "Net Zero" and "Smart Transformation," offering deep insights and practical experience from experts to help companies stay ahead in the competitive landscape. 

 The event featured a rich variety of content, including innovations in smart manufacturing technologies and actionable green production strategies. ITRI, NTU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, and multiple corporate representatives shared their latest research and achievements in smart low-carbon factories, laser micro-processing, and AI-enabled manufacturing. These insights help businesses drive both digitalization and decarbonization. 

The forum presented the following key topics: 
  • Mr. Liang Shuo-Peng (ITRI): “Low-Carbon Smart Factories and Digital Twin Interaction”
  • Mr. Chen Cheng-Yen (Jumbo Laser): “Laser Micro-Processing and Carbon Reduction Processes”
  • Mr. Wang Ren-Pin (DMG MORI): “MX – Smart Transformation for Sustainable Development”
  • Mr. Chen Po-Yu (NTU Research Team): “Digital, AI, and Green Transformation in Manufacturing”
  • Mr. Huang Kuo-Liang (DaYi Smart Manufacturing): “Future Factories – Precision Manufacturing and Decarbonization”
  • Ms. Hsieh Man-Yu (Sunyen Mechatronics): “Smart Factory and Automation Solutions”
  • Mr. Chen Chung-Ching (E-Cleantech): “Post-Machining Metal Cleaning – Eco-Friendly, Wastewater-Free, Ultra-Clean”
These sessions provided actionable insights and strategies to explore the new frontier of smart manufacturing and march toward a low-carbon sustainable era. 

 In the context of continuous changes in the global supply chain, industries face not only technical challenges but also rapidly shifting market demands. Green supply chains and low-carbon transitions will be the core of future industrial ecosystems. The topics discussed were not only an analysis of the current landscape but also a roadmap for future actions, guiding the industry toward more efficient and sustainable development.
